Ford's Final Fan Fiction

#Authors notes; The original edit of this story was about 1300 words long, having to cut it down for the word limit meant I lost of lot of description in the action sequences and a bit of passage of time.

Agents Kay and Jay were on a mission to find a missing colleague, Agent Eff, last heard from in a small town, in the middle of a desert.

They had driven into town, seeing no one, and parked the car in the town’s square before deciding to proceed on foot.

“It’s a ghost town, there’s no one here,” Jay said puzzled.

Kay retrieved a small scope from his jacket pocket and looked up and down the main street. He saw a small gathering of people exiting what looked to be the only dinner in town.
“Oh thank god! Hello!” Jay greeted as the people headed over, their eyes glowing brightly.

Kay’s scope drew his attention. Patches of the approaching group shone red, alerting him to their condition. He pulled out his gun and opened fire on the first of the crowd.

“Woah!” Jay yelled in surprise. “You can’t just start blasting people for being all glowy eyed.”

“Velusian nerve mites. They’re not ‘
people’ anymore Slick,’ Kay said as he fired upon another aggressor. “We have to get back to the LTD and call in air support.”

“We’re going to bomb the entire town?!” Jay asked.

“Orbital strike. Mite’s burrow. First a host, then the planet. They’ll have tunnels beneath town,” Jay told him in a matter of fact tone.

“So apart from the glowy eyes, what do these mites have in store for us?” Jay asked.

“They’re strong, but slow, and expel super heated plasma from their mouths.”

“Sounds like a cake walk, just stay out of arm’s reach!” Jay exclaimed.

“Remember Slick, there were five hundred people living in this town.”

The two agents made their way through town, avoiding patrols where possible.

Kay’s communicator beeped in his pocket, and he pulled it out, flicking it open. Zed was staring at Kay from the communicator’s small screen.

“Kay, give me a report. Where’s Eff?” Zed barked.

“Still missing, probably dead. There’s an outbreak of Velusian nerve mites. They seem to have a pretty extensive network of caverns under the town. We’re going to have to level it.” Jay’s voice lacked any tone that would have been appropriate given what he had just said.

“I’ll have the twins move the satellite into position. Call back when you’re at a safe distance.”

“In an hour, toast the town whether we’ve made it out or not Zed,” Kay said, closing the communicator without a farewell.

“You just love putting our lives in danger don’t you?” Jay asked as they weaved through back streets.

The two agents were stopped in their tracks when they came across Agent Eff, tied and seated on a chair, in the middle of the road. They moved forward cautiously. Eff looked up to see them approaching and swung his head from side to side, urging them to stop.

“Leave me behind,” he hissed. “It’s a trap, they’re waiting for you.”

“We can’t just leave him, he’s not even infected!” Jay pleaded.

“I couldn’t agree more, but we have to be careful,” Kay replied as he looked through his scope at the ground around Eff. Frowning, he pulled out his ice gun and started to fire. Shot after shot covered the ground around Eff, leaving an icy path.

“It’ll buy you some time, but not long. You better hurry Slick,” Kay instructed.

Jay took a few quick breaths and ran forwards. He tackled Eff onto the ice and they slid away from danger to the opposing sidewalk.

Behind them, the street erupted and fell away as a dozen infected townspeople crawled to the surface. Eff lay a safe distance away, but Jay started slipping into the crater of rubble, toward the infected. One reached to grab his ankle as he was making his way back out.

“Oh no you don’t!” Jay yelled as he kicked his attacker, mouth widening with a ever brightening glow, in the cheek knocking him back. Kay fired his ice gun and Jay’s attacker was encased in ice.

Jay climbed quickly from the pit and untied Eff. They worked around the hole meeting Kay, firing upon the townspeople as they ran.

Reaching Kay, the three stumbled down several alleyways, keeping out of sight as they escaped.

There was only ten minutes left as they almost reached the car. They peeked around the corner to see the LTD surrounded.

“Once around the block?” Jay asked, to which Kay nodded. Jay sat Eff down on a stair and handed Kay his gun and stepped out from behind the corner.

“Hey, over here roaches!” Jay yelled, turning to run.

A flock of host bodies took off in pursuit, leaving a handful behind.

Kay waited till Jay was out of sight and started towards the car, lofting both guns at the small gathering. He pulled both triggers rapidly and, as the two forces met, only Kay was left standing.

Eff ambled behind Kay, firing upon any patrols that approached the ruckus.

Kay pressed the button on his keys and the doors unlocked. Eff climbed into the back of the car as Kay stood by the open driver’s door and held both guns prone.

Jay rounded the corner with the horde shortly behind him, and Kay opened fire once more.

“Hey! Watch it!” Jay yelled as he covered his head and ran for the car.

They jumped in and Kay reversed away from their attackers before spinning the car around and down the main street, weaving left and right as patches of roading crumbled.

Jay checked his watch, they had made it out just in time, one minute to spare.

There was a point of light in the sky and a thunderous crash as a beam of light struck the town.

Both agents put on their sunglasses as the LTD sped along the desert road, escaping the blast radius behind them. Kay pressed a button on the console of the car and it transformed into something barely resembling the LTD it had been and sped away even faster.

  1. The spaced out format made the fan-fic easy to read and its pretty interesting.

Maybe you could briefly introduce what LTD means.
